With a clear night in the forecast, Bec and myself set out for the summit of Mt.Sparrowhawk by headlamp. Sparrowhawk is located in the Spray Lakes Valley and is an easy scramble with a 1400m elevation gain. From this 3100m peak you are well above the surrounding mountains which makes for an amazing view of the Spray Lakes Reservoir and Mount Assiniboine in the distance. The mountain is close enough to the prairies that we were able to watch the sun rise over the horizon, as it lit up the peaks and ridges around us. Here’s a few of my favourite photos from the hike. Enjoy//

We headed south on the Highway 40 for a few days of hiking in the Kananaskis Valley in hopes of finding some good light and a little adventure. With our bags packed, we headed up for South Opal Ridge. The night was cold enough to make our water bottles freeze and definitely made it difficult to crawl out of our warm sleeping bags. It all became worth it when I peaked out of the tent to see the sky ready to blow up with colour. Here are a few of my favourite photos from the hike!
