Mt. Sparrowhawk – Kananaskis, AB

With a clear night in the forecast, Bec and myself set out for the summit of Mt.Sparrowhawk by headlamp. Sparrowhawk is located in the Spray Lakes Valley and is an easy scramble with a 1400m elevation gain. From this 3100m peak you are well above the surrounding mountains which makes for an amazing view of the Spray Lakes Reservoir and Mount Assiniboine in the distance. The mountain is close enough to the prairies that we were able to watch the sun rise over the horizon, as it lit up the peaks and ridges around us. Here’s a few of my favourite photos from the hike.
